The Story Behind

In my expeience antique and vintage pieces can often have an incredible story. I always make a point of asking owners about their furniture because often the stories can be incredible.

The case in point were these little dining room chairs. At first glance they may seem .... well ordinary. But ask a couple of questions about their history and a completely different appreciation arises.

This is a set of six quaint dining chairs. They were made in 1920 in Poland for a lady shortly after her marriage. They were part of a dining suite - six chairs and a matching table.

Recent history in Europe was a fairly difficult time. World War One and then World War Two. The suite successfully survivied WW1. Along came WW2 and unfortunately all of the ladies furniture was taken by the Nazi occupiers. Incredibly at the conclusion of the war, by chance, the lady managed to reclaim her dining chairs.

A couple of years later she moved to South Africa and after a further 10 years moved to Australia. She passed in 2015 in Australia.

So as you can see, these little chairs have experienced much in their 95 year history.

My job now is to help create their next chapter...
